The Guildhall and Town Hall Complex is made up of two timber framed medieval buildings - the Market Hall and Guildhall, the restoration of which was completed in 1990 - and the Victorian Town Hall with its grand ballroom. There are also the remains of a medieval detached kitchen in the garden at the rear of the Guildhall.
As well as the original purposes for which each building was created, over the centuries, the various parts have been used to house a grammar school, almshouses, the parish workhouse, wool hall, town gaol, assembly rooms, a corset factory and an elementary school.
Hadleigh Town Council offices and the town archives can now been found in the old Market Hall while rooms throughout the complex may be hired including being used as a venue for civil wedding ceremonies.
Opening Sunday June 25th through to Sunday 24th September
2.30pm to 5.00pm Sunday to Friday (Closed Saturdays)
